- At the top of one hill I could see a person at the bottom on the
side of the rode and an ambulance coming down the next hill.
Someone had crashed at what was probably over 30 miles per hour. I
checked to be sure it was not someone from my team and went on to lunch.
It was everything I could do to make it up the last hill where lunch was
already being served. Still, it turned out I was not very far
behind the team, so I felt pretty good.
Lunch in Bellville was made up of cold sandwiches, fruit, pasta, Oreo cookies, yogurt, and your choice of soft drinks, water, or Gatorade. Of course the Team Atlantia Support Team was there with cheers for everyone. We setup lunch near the exit so we could watch all the riders get back on the course and so we could offer them some "Energy Bubbles" to help them with the remainder of the ride. We sat on a rock wall for 30-45 minutes then decided we better get back on the road. As we rode off the air was filled with cheers from the Team Atlantia Support Team. We formed our pace line again and made our way to toward La Grange. Our trip from Bellville to La Grange was fairly uneventful. No flats, crashes, or technical problems all the way. Once again there is a line of riders as far as the eye can see in both directions. But coming into La Grange we where cheered in by our support team once again. Check out the La Grange pictures on the right side of page one for details. We chose to camp in an RV Park rather than at the fair grounds with the rest of the riders. Atlantia provided us with steaks and all the drinks we could handle. I was happy to hear that I would have the opportunity to take a shower and that our tents were already up and ready for us when we got there. Michael even did our laundry for us. Our sponsors came by to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed for the night and for the morning. Atlantia really knows how to take care of their people.
