Swimming at Memorial Park in
Houston, TX
You can see pictures of
Memorial Park here!
A buddy of mine and I were riding the trails in Memorial Park in Houston, Texas one cold day last winter. It had been raining quite a bit so the trails were pretty muddy and many of the low water crossings were flooded. For those radicals and environmental whacos out there, the trails were open at the time. Anyway, we came to a very steep descent which was (is) punctuated by a creek bed (usually dry). That day, the creek appeared to have about a foot of water in it. Not so! When I rode (slid) down the hill and tried to wheelie across the creek, I lost my balance and fell screaming into the freezing mire. I sank up to my neck in black water while managing to save my bike from being submerged. I climbed out feeling quite the fool. Three riders had observed the whole ordeal and found it very humorous. I was exalted, however, when my buddy tried the same path and found the bottom of the pool as well. We finished the ride soaked to the bone with our teeth chattering. Man what a day that was!!!
