With an elevation change of around 100ft. the Notrees trail system provides a great place for challenging descents and grueling climbs.  Located at the edge of the Texas Caprock this area is ideal for mountain biking.  There is little shade and no water so bring your own.

Here I am at the edge of a cliff taking in the scenery.  As you can see, the name of the trails are accurate, NO TREES!!!  There is however, shade at the bottom of the cliffs.

There are plenty of technical places throughout the trail system.  Here we have some water washouts that are about 3-4 feet deep.  The area that the trails go through is an old W.W.II training area.  There are some old structures and a shooting range still remaining.  We like these sites just like they are so don't vandalize it or leave any trash behind.

The trail system also covers several fast, long, flat areas with several long climbs and tricky downhills.  Almost all the trails all single track and surrounded by thorny bushes and cactus.  You are sure to get a flat if you leave the trail.

This is the entrance to the trails at Notrees.  Just look for the radio tower on the West side of Notrees.  The gate is always locked so be sure you get the combination from the Permian Basin Bicycle Association (Mountain Bike Director: Tommy Hindman) before you get here or you will not be able to get in.

From the top of the hills in the area you can get a pretty good idea of where the trails are and where they are going.  In this picture you see my bike at the edge of the downhill and my truck (in the yellow circle) at the bottom of the downhill.  Don't be fooled, the truck is about half a mile away.
