Knob Hill is a good place to ride with inexperienced riders.  Other than a short technical area at the West end of the trail, it is an easy ride.  We did the the 10+ mile trip there and back in about an hour.  DORBA (Dallas Off Road Bicycle Association) seems to do a good job of

maintaining the trial, and there are a few short-cuts that have been closed to help maintain the trail.  Remember to stay on open trails to keep the trails open.
Trail maps are available at local bike shops.  The map we where shown by somebody at the trailhead was in a book provided by DORBA for $6.95 with all the area trails listed inside.

How do you get there...
The first thing to do is locate Grapevine Lake, Northwest of Dallas, on a map.  Take HWY 114 to Hwy 377.  Turn North on HWY 377 and start looking for a small dirt parking lot and the trailhead on the East side of the road.  If you get to FM 1171 you have gone to far and you need to turn around and go .4 miles back.

Enter a City or US Zip:

This is an Army Corps of Engineers area probably used as a floodplain to contain heavy rainfall runoff.  If there is rain in the area or if it has rained in the past day, the trail may be closed.  You can get a weather update by contacting DORBA.

Just up the road on FM 1171 is the Northshore Trail.  I have not ridden this trail but I hear it is a better ride than Knob Hill.  Several locals I talked to on the trail suggested I ride Northshore if I want a more technical ride (although crowded).
