2000 Chili Appreciation Society International Chili Cookoff - Terlingua TX

The picture above was taken during the CASI Chili Cookoff when thousands of people form all over the world meet on a Ranch outside of Terlingua TX for a party and a chili cookoff.  No hotel rooms area available and the highway patrol is everywhere.  People dress up, put on shows, and join together in celebrating the "Chili Appreciation Society International Day" in Texas!  

On-the-other-hand, the Pictures below are typical of any other day at the same location.  All that is left of the thousands of people are fire rings, beer cans, tire tracks, and the bright red CASI entertainment buildings.

And yes, there are places to ride your Mountain Bikes in the area.  For instance, the river bed pictured on the right leads to several mine shafts, there are ranch roads all around, however there is that chance you might get lost, and you can always ride thought the Chili Cookoff (in fact that is probably the best way to get around).  Pictures of that are on the way.
