I took the 4.56 pumpkin and locker differential out of my car in December, 2001 to install in an 8.8" 99GT rear end housing and had to change the side gears for use with the new 31 spline axles and here is what it all looks like. This is what the Locker looked like internally after 90 runs in the 99 Cobra with 10" ET Streets with 60' as low as 1.74 seconds. This includes about 3000 miles street driving as well.

Obviously, I am very, very happy with the condition of the Locker after this many runs. The parts look brand new. Which is good, because the parts aren't cheap. The 31 spline side gears to convert this Locker to a 31 spline model 187C-145A cost $160 and are not normally stocked.
Note that there is no tapered lip and groove for the snap rings on the ends of the halfshafts for the Cobra. The only way to keep the halfshaft inboard stub shafts inserted all the way is with a push from the boots on the CV Joints. Usually there is enough preload on the boots the way they come from GKN. If you have to take the halfshafts apart, removing the boot, you need to set the boots in compression slightly and clamp them down on the axle so that they push the inboard stub shaft toward the center of the pumpkin.
